SPACE: Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions

This service is a virtual parent only treatment. It teaches parents how to aid their child in managing anxious and uncomfortable emotions. Dr. Berquist uses this treatment mainly for anxiety and insistence on sameness (e.g., inflexibly, difficulty with change). Dr. Berquist is a SPACE trained provider with advanced training in ARFID and FTL. This program is for preschoolers to 17 years old.

NDBI Infant and Toddler and Young Child (0-5)

The Infant/Toddler parent training model is for children with an increased likelihood of being autistic, developmentally delayed, or newly diagnosed as autistic ages 5 months to 36 months and focuses on social engagement and building first words.
The 3-5 year old model 
is tailored to your child's needs and primarily focuses on teaching your child social communication skills (e.g., phrase speech, answering and asking questions, social conversation) and self-advocacy.​
The NDBI model combined with Functional Communication Training (FCT) can also help children learn how to replace dysregulated behavior with self-advocacy requests for things to be a particular way, as well as increase a child's ability to wait for access to their requested items or activities.
All NDBI models focus on teaching caregivers the skills to faciliate these strategies in the child's natural environment. Virtual or in person parent training with or without the child present.

Feeding Therapy

This parent training service is for young  toddlers to elementary school aged children that have selective or restrictive feeding. A SPACE and NDBI based approach is used to increase and expand a child's diet in order to improve nutrition and overall functioning. Parent training with or without the child present.
For Middle to High School age a primarily SPACE-ARFID approach is taken, which is virtual and parent only.
