SPACE: Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions
This service is a parent only treatment. It teaches parents how to aid their child in managing anxious and uncomfortable emotions. Dr. Berquist uses this treatment mainly for anxiety and insistence on sameness (e.g., inflexibly, difficulty with change). Dr. Berquist is a SPACE trained provider with advanced training in ARFID and FTL. This program is for autistic or neurodiverse preschoolers to young adults.
NDBI Infant and Toddler and Young Child (0-5)
The Infant/Toddler model is for children with an increased likelihood of being autistic or newly diagnosed with autism ages 6 months to 36 months and focuses on social engagement and building first words. The 3-5 year old model
is tailored to your child's needs and primarily focuses on teaching your child social communication skills (e.g., phrase speech, answering and asking questions, social conversation) and self-advocacy.
This model combined with Functional Communication Training (FCT) can also help children learn how to replace dysregulated behavior with self-advocacy requests for things to be a particular way, as well as increase a child's ability to wait for access to their requested items or activities.
This service is for young autistic children to elementary school aged children that have selective feeding. A SPACE and NDBI based approach is used to increase and expand a child's diet in order to improve nutrition and overall functioning.
